This is a good week for Tracking Jane. I finished the first draft of Blood Track today, and finished putting the final touches on Fleeting Shadow, which I will make available as an exclusive, free offer to my mail list subscribers starting this Saturday. Sign up now to get your copy!
Though it turned into a lot of work, writing both of these stories in tandem really helped me flesh out a new character that appears in both stories, and it set up some key elements that Blood Track will explore. I am pleased with the way Blood Track reached its ending. It felt really solid, though, of course, after I let it rest for a couple of weeks, I’m sure I’ll have some cleanup during the revision process.
As for Fleeting Shadow, I’m really glad I took the time to wrote it. The story didn’t turn out into a blockbuster thriller. Though it packs some suspense and intrigue, it’s primary strength lies in the way it delves into Jane’s psyche as she struggles with Shadow’s failing health–and her own–and sorts out what to do with her feelings toward Dan Murphy. Above all, I’m really looking forward to offering it as my gift of thanks and appreciation to my loyal readers. Like I said above, if you haven’t already, sign up now to get your copy!
