Other than posting serialized samples, I haven’t said much about Ghost Writer lately. I’m glad to say that with the help of my Beta readers–who have been awesome!–I have brought the story to a point where I’m almost ready to release it.
Yes, almost. That’s a word with so much promise, and yet…
It’s available for pre-order! And during the pre-order period, leading up to its May 12 release, I’ve dropped the price. So grab your copy while the getting is good.
On the artsy side…
There’s something about Ghost Writer that challenged me and still bothers me a bit. One of my Beta readers hit on it. By design and by nature, the story takes on a rather confusing and round-about path. I don’t quite know how to put it without spoiling it, but the story is about that confusion–namely what an artificial intelligence (AI) designed to twist reality could do. The story is more about that intrigue than about what physically happens. The threat such an AI poses isn’t, after all, purely physical, but in fact, much worst.
Along with this, Ghost Writer builds heavily on Pink Ballerina (for its premise) and Decisive Moment (for its main character). Without reading those two stories, Ghost Writer will prove even more confusing. For this reason, if you’re interested in reading, I will definitely recommend you read the other two stories first.
That still leaves me with what I could do on my end. Add a few more explosions? Car chases? Premature character deaths? I don’t know. While acknowledging the difficulties in the story, I’m not quite sure what I could do to mitigate them, or that I should. Having gone through it one more time, I actually rather like how it works–and where it ends, resolved in tension, with promise of more to come.
Look for Ghost Writer to hit the digital bookshelves on May 12th. Until then, it’s available for pre-order, so get yours wherever eBooks are sold:
